Cute'N'Cuddly Nursery by Tanya de Bruijn
So here's an update. I'm currently finishing up Jamie Kewy. I'm going to pick up some glass granules over the weekend from a local store. I've pondered buying glass beads from a store for a while now, but you don't know how big the glass beads are. I don't want to bother anyone to cut a bag open so I can see it either.. =/ It's so expensive to buy online since you have to pay shipping on top of the cost of the glass beads. I'll give them a try and if they aren't the size I like, I'll just return them or not buy them if I can get someone to open a bag.
Below is a picture of Jamie currently. If you would like to adopt her, please contact me. However, I cannot ship her until she is completed.
I wanted to make a pig since I was inspired by Cindy Musgrove's Fawn. I found some really cute piggies, but in the mix there was a baby hippo picture. I thought, "how cute is that?!", and had to make a baby hippo instead. I haven't seen any sculptures of them.
I started out with a small foil ball bigger than a golf ball, but far from the size of a baseball. I thought a teeny one would be cute. As I sculpted it got bigger and bigger. The head is about 5" long, and 3.5" tall, not including the ears.
I ran out of Super Sculpey which I'm going to get more today. I'm thinking of making some neck rolls, and some chubby legs/feet, with a teeny tail. I'd like to design a cloth body. If I can, I'd love to have these hippos made into vinyl. I have some interest already, but haven't spoken or showed many people.
I'll post an update if I end up getting them mass produced in vinyl. Everyone could paint their own hippos! :D
Below is a picture of the hippo in progress.
